AGM - New Faces On Committee
Feb 2008
At the AGM the club membership approved the appointment of Martin Bowen as treasurer. He had taken over the role from Ron Wilkinson part way through the year. Andrew Mawditt, a past chairman, and Roger Corbett, twenty years a committee member both opted to stand down after sterling service. Roger was rewarded with life membership. Their places are taken by Gerry Cahill and Jamie Turnbull.
Confusion Over Stocked Fish
June 2007
A mix up with the fish farm resulted in the stocked fish not having their adipose fins clipped. For the catch returns all fish over 12 inches should be considered as stocked fish.
Loss of Fishing
March 2007
The club fishing at Roughmoor has been lost as a result of a change of landowner. At Upper Bradford the fields downstream of the field containing the cattle bridge have been lost as a result of the death of the landowner. We are hoping to negotiate with the new landowner when things have been settled. For now members should refer to the latest beat maps and aquaint themselves with the new limits to the fishing.
Appointment of New Chairman
3 February 2006
At the AGM the club approved the appointment of Mike Woollen as chairman following Andrew Mawditt’s decision to stand down after four years in the role. Congratulations to Andrew on the job he’s done and to Mike for getting back onto the committee after such a short break. Mike was secretary but stood down at last year’s AGM - he obviously couldn’t cope with the withdrawal symptoms.
Acquisition of New Water
At the AGM it was announced that the club had the opportunity to purchase a stretch of single bank fishing on the River Yarty north west of Axminster. This has now been completed and details will be included in the map books when they are reissued in April.
Appointment of New Treasurer & Secretary
4 February 2005
At the AGM the club approved the appointment of John Connolly as secretary and Ron Wilkinson as treasurer. Ron had been treasurer elect for a year whilst understudying the master, David Lowe, who has retired from the role after many many years in it. Mike Woollen has stood down from the secretary’s job after a few years of carefully guiding the club through a period of difficulty (foot & mouth) and change. Congratulations are due to them both for the effort put in over the years.
New Stile at Westford Park
December 2001
A new stile has been constructed by John Male and volunteers at Westford Farm Park, which has hugely improved access from the layby to the first field.
Appointment of Chairman
November 2001
The Club has appointed Andrew Mawditt as Chairman. Congratulations to Andrew and good luck in his new role
